Could Knocknagoshel win a thousand euro?

Coiste Chontae Chiarraí would like to encourage clubs to become more aware and more proactive in ensuring Sporting Behaviour by their Players, Mentors & Supporters are at all times of the highest standards.

... In particular the behaviour of a minority towards match officials can at times leave a lot to be desired. The Board would welcome any suggestions from our Units that would improve the situation.

As a first initiative Kerry Co Board in association with Joe Crowley of Mulvihills Pharmacy Killorglin, have agreed to put in place a ‘Fair Play Initiative’ for this years Senior Football League. Should the scheme prove a success it is hoped to extend this to the Senior Hurling League next year.

The format is as follows:

• Each Team in the League will be allocated 100 points initially.
• For every player sent off (straight red card) his Team will be deducted 10 points.
• For every player sent off on receipt of second yellow card his Team will be deducted 5 points.
• For every player receiving a yellow card his Team will be deducted 2 points.
• A team giving a walk over will be eliminated.
• As there is two extra rds in Div 5 – team’s score from this division will be divided by 13 and multiplied by 11 to give an average score.
• Final (Div 1) and any play-offs will not be included.
• Club scores will be regularly updated and emailed to Clubs as well as published on Kerry GAA Website.
• The winning Team will receive a prize of €1000 kindly sponsored by Joe Crowley, Mulvihills Pharmacy, Killorglin.
