Knockngoshel 1-6 Glenbeigh / Glencar 0-17

On a beautiful sunny evening for Championship, Knocknagoshel faced a huge task of overcoming Division 1 outfit Glenbeigh / Glencar.

It started as many would have expected with Glenbeigh / Glencar racking up 4 point in the first few minutes. Points from Daniel Griffin, Caolim Teahan and 2 points for Tommy Cahill one from play and one from a free. Knocknagoshel adapted well and brought more men behind the ball to try stifle the very dangerous Glenbeigh / Glencar forward line. Knocknagoshel then held their opponents scoreless for over 10 minutes and kicked 2 points themselves, a James Wash free and another from Niall Barrett. Glenbeigh / Glencar regained their composure and moved the Knock defense around more and then hit 6 points on the trot. Kieran Courtney, another free from Tommy Cahill, 3 from the very impressive Caolim Teahan and wing back Stephen O'Sullivan also. It left the half time score Knocknagoshel 0-2 Glenbeigh / Glencar 0-10.

Knock started the second half well with an immediate score, a close in free from James Walsh. Daniel Griffin scored his 2nd point in response. Gavan O'Grady kicked one from play and a 45 a few minutes later. Then Caolim Teahan put 10 points between the team. James Walsh kicked another point before Tommy Cahill responded. James Walsh kicked another free before rattling the net with a quickly taken free minutes later. Kieran Cahalane scored a point off the bench for Glenbeigh / Glencar. James Walsh tapped over another free before the lethal Tommy Cahill rounded off a good outing with the final score of the game. Full Time score: Knocknasgoshel 1-6 Glenbeigh / Glencar 0-17.

Knocknagoshel can hold their heads up high with a battling display but the firepower Glenbeigh /Glencar posses should take them a long way in the Junior competition this year.
