North Kerry League vs Duagh

posted 7 Mar 2016, 06:13 by Shane O'Connell
The Knocknagoshel seniors lost out in their second game of the North Kerry League in Duagh on Sunday.

The team had just the minimum 15 players available and started brightly with  a Niall Barrett free in the 2nd minute. Duagh hit back with the next 3 scores to take the lead but a strong final 5 minutes saw Knock dominate and points from Conor Sheehan and 3 more from Niall Barrett saw them leading before the break by 0-5 to 0-3. Just before the break Knock were dealt a huge blow when stand in Goalkeeper Denis Collins was sent off.

The second half started badly for Knock, under pressure with 14 players and no replacements Duagh netted for a goal minutes into the the half. Knock fought back and another Niall Barrett free and a wonderful score from Cillian O'Connor put knock back in the lead. Duagh brought on fresh legs and Knock ran out of steam and Duagh finished much stronger and winning out 1-09 to 0-07.

There were some great performances on the Knock team with younger players like Micheal Shine, Cillian O'Connor and Daniel Leahy really standing out.
