North Kerry Under 21 Semi Final Replay

posted 8 Feb 2012, 03:04 by Shane O'Connell
The eagerly awaited replay between Knock/Brosna and Castleisland Desmonds in the semi-final of the North Kerry U21 Championship took place last Saturday 4th February 2012 in Duagh. As in the first game, this game was nip and tuck throughout and the strong wind blowing made conditions difficult for both teams, with scores being hard to come by. Castleisland Desmonds led at half time by six points to four but Knock/Brosna clawed their way back to level terms after ten minutes of the second half. The sides would exchange points during the next ten minutes and the possibility of extra-time looked on the cards once more. With six minutes to go, a Niall Barrett point put Knock/Brosna ahead but Castleisland Desmonds were most unfortunate not to goal with their next attack. The critical score of the game came shortly afterwards when Adam Barry latched on to a breaking ball and volleyed it to the Castleisland Desmonds’ net. Edmond Walsh scored the insurance point for Knock/Brosna in time added on to leave the final score reading Knock/Brosna 1-09 Castleisland Desmonds 0-07. Referee for the match was John Ross of Ballyduff.
